Foundations of Intercultural Learning & Teaching, Spring 2018 (Session I)

Learn to better understand and navigate cultural differences, facilitate others’ intercultural learning, and be a more effective and inspired educator.

Are you an educator who works across cultures, whether leading study abroad or domestic immersion experiences, working with international students, teaching language courses or other topics that are intercultural or international in nature, or engaging with an increasingly diverse student population?

Whatever your role in education, you are likely working (and living) in an increasingly diverse environment. Foundations of Intercultural Learning & Teaching will help you better understand and navigate the differences, facilitate others’ intercultural learning, and be a more effective and inspired educator.

Do you find the experience of working with students from diverse backgrounds stimulating, yet also challenging at times? Would you like to better connect with and help all of your students not only learn, but grow as human beings? What if you could learn and grow through that process as well?

By developing your own intercultural competence and ability to facilitate others’ intercultural learning, this program will help you connect with your students (and others in your life) on a deeper level and make intercultural experiences more transformative and enjoyable for you and those you’re working with.

What is Foundations of Intercultural Learning & Teaching?

Foundations of Intercultural Learning & Teaching is an eight-week professional development program taught online for educators from a wide variety of backgrounds.

In this innovative program, you will learn what intercultural learning entails and how to incorporate it into your work to help others develop life-long, transferrable skills. As a result, your learners will interact more effectively and appropriately across cultural differences, grow in their understanding of themselves, and be more responsible and respectful global citizens.

In the process, you will enhance your own intercultural competence and learn and grow both personally and professionally. And hopefully you’ll have a little fun in the process.

Participating in this innovative program demonstrates your commitment to fostering transformative intercultural learning for yourself and others. As a result, you will be better equipped to serve increasingly diverse audiences, build bridges across difference, manage conflict and challenging situations effectively, and inspire and support intercultural learning, social justice, and inclusive practices in your organization and community.
